Can you imagine how important it is to same-sex couples living in remote areas around the world to be able to see that they are not alone? It is also important for the world to understand that we exist in great numbers, we live normal lives as depicted in this e-magazine, and we will NOT be caricatured by the small minded "haters and fear-mongers" among them. And to be clear, our supporters are gay and straight, liberal and conservative, black, white, young, old and all races and ages in between. How about you?

10,000 Couples was created in October 2009 as an online magazine, or e-magazine, dedicated to celebrating, affirming, and strengthening the commitment of gay and lesbian couples to one another and to their relationships. We hope to gather strength, inspire couples still finding each other, and provide a more accurate picture than the distorted and distorting imagery so often used to represent same-sex relationships. We are -- and always have been -- in positive, healthy, and joy-filled relationships, and it is time those images get equal attention and equal care. We feature original content and articles aggregated from a wide variety of sources, in hopes of providing useful information to people in every stage of a relationship. From that first encounter with "the one" to childproofing your kitchen right through to financing your retirement, we strive to give each matter the seriousness and the humor you deserve.

Not in a relationship? No problem, we have information to help you find your dream or get over the nightmare of your last one. And if you're straight but looking for ways to support and advocate for healthy LGBT unions, we welcome you, too!

In December 2009, we launched the I Am the Face of Marriage Equality Worldwide Campaign to find 10,000 gay and lesbian couples from around the world as well as supporting the fight for our equality. Why don't you join the fight and become a member of 10,000 Couples e-magazine (it's FREE!). You get to enjoy some very special benefits, like accessing the full Gallery to browse the inspiring photographs along with it.

If you are in a committed same-sex relationship, we hope you will also join the effort to inspire the world from our Faces of Marriage Equality GALLERY (formerly 10thousandCouples Inspiring Gallery). You only have to enter the couples subscriber link to upload your own photo and anniversary data to the gallery. When your anniversary comes around we will be sure to celebrate with you. And don't forget to log in at 10,000 Couples e-magazine after you're done to see your profile at the Gallery.

While visibility is difficult for some gay and lesbian couples, we believe that our invisibility is one of the ways others dismiss us so easily. Supposedly, they "don't know anyone, love anyone, work with anyone like that." According to one subscriber, "With more visibility, those who discriminate won't be able to do it blindly and pretend they don't know who it is affecting." We agree --

10,000 Couples is committed to building support for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and/or transgendered (LGBT) community with like-minded groups through a range of resources and connections. 	I happened upon 10,000 Couples in mid-Oct. 2009, and my offer to assist was most graciously received by Delena. I believe "coincidences" are usually actually the guiding hand of God. Having left parish ministry just a few weeks before to start a freelance copy-editing business, I felt more free than I had while directly serving a church to publicly support my LGBT friends and the LGBT community as a whole. I believe Scripture commands radical hospitality, grace, and inclusion, and that not everything in the Bible is as it perhaps seems at first blush. While I offer copy-editing and proofreading services for any kind of writing, I have a heart for that which delves into matters of faith. Heidi Mann, Associate Editor
	I have always been an advocate for same-sex marriage, and through 10,000 Couples, I have a chance to make a difference. As a member of the team, I hope to promote both the e-magazine and to bring more same-sex couples and supporters into our 10,000 Couples family. Now that same-sex marriage has become an important subject worldwide, we must bring together everyone in the LGBT community to fight for the rights of our community. I also try to bring issues of same-sex marriage to the forefront through speaking engagements, as well as promoting the advantages of both our e-magazine and our 10,000 Inspiring Couples Gallery.
